Spring 2023 Favorites

As someone who has been trying to listen to more podcasts, I often find creators that I like talking about their “seasonal favorites”. I thought this would be a great idea to try out this year, so I chose a few things I have been really into this Spring. I know it’s almost June but still – I have a month left before the Summer Solstice!! I have added some paid Amazon links to all of these products if you are interested in getting any yourself.

Perfume

When I started brainstorming this list, the first thing to come to mind was a recent purchase: my new Lilac perfume from The Botanical Gardens in the Bronx.

Lilacs at The New York Botanical Gardens

I wanted to get a signature perfume because even though I don’t really wear it, and when I do it’s a roller on my wrist of a lavender essential oil, I felt like it was time to put away my Our Moment perfume that I have had since my 16th birthday. While I was at the Botanical Gardens with my mom for Mother’s Day, we were in the shop and I saw their line of perfumes. I naturally tried Rose and Lilac, and naturally went with Lilac, as it is my faaaaavorite floral smell. I finally feel like a big girl having a real perfume!

Podcasts

Speaking of podcasts, some of my favorites in rotation are Anything Goes with Emma Chamberlain, In Bloom Podcast with Abby Asselin, and Happy Hour with Gretchen Geraghty.

When I first wanted to get into podcasts last year, I started with Emma Chamberlain because that was the only one I knew. A short google search later led me to some similar podcasts, and here we are! I really enjoy these three specifically because even though they are similar, all three have such different styles. I love that all three of these women have such a conversational flow when they speak, it feels like I am listening to a friend talk. It’s so nice to hear women also in their twenties talk about things they go through because a lot of times, I am going through similar situations. I love to hear their perspectives on traveling, decluttering, practicing mindfulness, and all around being kind and patient with yourself. I really think that listening to a few a day, or even one a week, has helped me feel validated and happier in my everyday existence.

Nintendo Switch / Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom

I caved and bought Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom last week, and it really does live up to the hype. I bought my OLED Switch back in March when I was recovering from my wisdom tooth surgery, and it really has been the gift that keeps on giving. I played Legend of Zelda: Breath Of the Wild in the summer of 2021 and played it for easily a month straight until I beat it. Fast forward to this March, I went back into the game and got myself refamiliarized with it and kept plugging through side quests. It for sure made the transition to Tears of the Kingdom much easier. I love that this game is quest and story driven but also open world (massive map to explore, I never get bored or run out of things to do!).

Amazon Kindle

Another favorite of mine for nearly a year has been my Kindle. I bought this in 2019 at my friend Leslie’s influence. I usually prefer a physical book, but there is no denying that having a Kindle is the sole reason I read as much as I do now.

Current Q2 Reads

It is so easy and so convenient to bring around everywhere: on the train, in the airport, in the car on a road trip, you name it. I also got a local library card and entered it in Libby, so 95% of the books I read are free!! Last year when I got my Kindle in August, I had read 10 books by the end of the year, so my goal for 2023 is 35 books. Having a Kindle and a library card have made flying through books even faster than before. Kevin doesnt think I actually read every word – maybe I’m just a good sight reader 😉

Clothing

Now, for clothes. Two pieces I want to mention that I have been wearing obsessivley are my lounge jumpsuit from Amazon and my short sleeve linen top from Uniqlo. The jumpsuit is just so unbelievably comfy and great to wear running errands or just lounging around the house after work. I am always looking for new comfy clothes so that it isn’t just shorts or sweatpants. I’m definitely a big fan. The linen shirt I actually got in green and white stripes in SoHo when I was out with my friends looking for clothes for our Mexico trip in June. I loved it so much that I had to order the white one; I was literally on the beach for an event in April when Iordered it. I love a linen piece of clothing, so I was thrilled that I found a good quality pair of shirts!!

Birkenstocks

I have been a Birkenstock girlie for easily 10 years at this point. My grandpa had a pair and I always thought they were super cool, so my mom got me a pair of brown leather ones in high school.

I now currently have five pairs, all very different. This spring in particular, I have been loving the ever trendy Boston Clogs. This is my first pair of the clogs as I usually go with the Arizona sandal both suede and leather. They’re just so comfy and I love how secure my feet feel when I wear them. I like the Boston Clogs too because even though I am absolutely a socks and sandals gal in the cooler months, it’s nice to have my toes a little more protected and not in the open.

Tote Bags

Last but not least, I have been seemingly starting a new collection of tote bags in the last several months.

Tote Bag Collection

I got an Edwad Hopper bag at the Whitney back in February and I have recently added a Sweet Pickle Books tote to the collection as well. This book store was super cool btw, and if you’re ever down in the Lower East Side, definitely check it out. I loved all of their merch, but obviously the tote spoke to me, not only as a tote bag collector, but also as a pickle lover. I now have all my bags hanging up by our front door so I can visually see everything and know which tote I may want for the day.

I hope you enjoyed my favorites from this Spring! I think I want to continue to do these every season. It’s so nice to recap on all the things I love, as well as share the knowledge!
